are finaLEE getting married!

Koonsie & I went to visit quite a few hotels over the last few weeks... Here's a post to consolidate everything we have seen, asked, thought :) We currently have 48-51 tables on our guest list. It's an estimate. It's scary. We are trying to slash :(

Things we are looking out for:
Hotel/ Country Clubs/ Restaurants: We prefer hotel. For 面子's sake, esp when 30tables are relatives... For their comprehensive packages... Everything that we need will be there :P
Ceiling & Pillars: If financially possible, we'd like a ballroom with a high ceiling & pillarless.
Koon: "the ceiling too low doesn't look very grand leh.." and I agree...
Price: The wedding's in Jan 2015, so considering the upward trend of the banquet prices, we're looking at <$1000++ per table. We try!

27 Oct 2013: M Hotel & Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre
16 Nov 2013: Park Royal @ Kitchener Road
17 Nov 2013: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium (super impromptu)
24 Nov 2013: Furama Riverfront Hotel
M Hotel

Ballroom: Banquet Suite (Level 10). High Ceiling. We liked the ballroom, unblocked views.

Capacity: Max 320

Price: >$1050++

Decision: :( the ballroom capacity is too small for our needs :(

Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre
Picture from Singaporebrides.com

Ballroom: Crystal Ballroom. High Ceiling. Mirrors at both sides that makes the room looks wider. Beautiful Chandeliers. Colour of lightings can be changed (Orange make the room looks very obiang o.o)

Capacity: Max 380

Price: >$1050++

Decision: Capacity too small and kinda ex :(

Park Royal @ Kitchener Road
Ballroom: Emerald Ballroom. Ceiling kinda low. Has pillars that blocks quite a bit of view, but there's 2 small LCD TV on each side. 4-colour mood lights.

Capacity: 450

Price: <$900++

Decision: Very affordable! But the back leads to some alley and then mustafa. There's quite a bit of curry smell at the hotel lobby (not racist!, just personal preference). The ceiling really quite low :((

Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium
Took picture from solitairewedding.blogspot.com

Ballroom: Atrium Ballroom. Ceiling kinda low. The entrance to the ballroom is right at the end of a long corridor. Changi Ballroom is on the same level, quite near. The reception area might be confusing but the events manager reassured us that they will have ushers if there are 2 events that night. The lobby and foyer area looks very nice. We had the option to split the banquet to 2 rooms, with free livefeed services for the smaller  ballroom. This way, we can be sure that there will not be any confusion at the reception area.

Capacity: 440 (+240)

Price: <$1000++ (now with DBS promotion)

Decision: We like the feel of the reception area and the lobby area. The events manager also shared alot of tips with us and even met us impromptu within 1hr request! Email replies were quick too. It was very assuring! *thumbs up*

Furama Riverfront
Picture from the Internet. We were too in-awe to take out our phones to snap :P

Ballroom: Venus Ballroom. Ceiling is super high and pillarless! Ballroom feels very grand. Reception area is huge, with pre-dinner drinks and canepes provided.

Capacity: 550

Price: <$1050++

Decision: We like the feel of the reception area and the lobby area. Lobby is nice. Package covers stuff that other hotel does not provide, eg: 45min live band. Very comprehensive perks are good. Slightly more ex den Atrium, but ballroom very beautiful!

WE HAVE DECIDED! Our search ends here... Praise the Lord!
